Getting the most out of your candle
-
Dip your wick
To extinguish your flame, simply dip your wick into the wax and reposition it upright. This extinguishes the flame without smoke and coats the wick in wax for the next burn.
-
Trim your wick
Before re-lighting your candle, check that it is approx 5-7mm. If it is too long, trim it to prevent smoking, excess soot, mushrooming and to ensure a slow even burn.
-
Adhere to burn time
When burning candles particularly pillar and thicker candles, make sure the candle is lit long enough for the wax to melt to the edges of the candle. This prevents 'tunnelling' which affects the burn of your candle.
-
Position your candle
Position your candle away from drafts and wind as this will cause uneven burning, dripping, smoking and a faster burn. If you have a cluster of candles together, ensure to leave 5cm in-between them to avoid rapid burning, they get very hot close to each other!
-
Fit your candle perfectly
If your candle doesn't fit its holder perfectly simply place the bottom 1-2cm in boiling hot water for a few seconds and then push end into holder. If candle is slightly thick you can re-mould this to fit a tight squeeze.
-
Place your candle
Always place your candle on a heat proof surface as they can get very hot!
