Our workshops are not just about learning to make candles — though you will leave knowing exactly how. They are about understanding the material. The more than 3,000 years of history behind it. The hive of some 60,000 bees whose work fills the wax in your hands. The craft of turning something extraordinary from nature into something beautiful for your home.

What you will learn and make
Three ancient techniques, each with its own rhythm, texture and quiet magic. You will master all three in a single two-hour session.
Build your candle layer by layer by dipping a cotton wick into warm molten beeswax. Watch it slowly grow before your eyes with each gentle dip. Rhythmic, calming, almost meditative — this is the technique that has made candles for more than three thousand years. You will make two.
Using sheets of pure beeswax with the signature honeycomb texture, you will roll an elegant candle with your hands. The warmth of the wax makes it soft and responsive — this technique is immediately satisfying and produces beautifully finished results. You will make one.
Pour warm golden beeswax into specially selected moulds and discover the magic of releasing a perfectly formed candle once it cools. Smooth, sculpted and clean-lined — the moulded candle is where craft meets design. You will make one.

The workshops take place in our studio in Balgowlah — the same space where we make every Hive & Harmony candle. You are not visiting a hired event space. You are stepping into the place where the craft actually happens.
The room smells of warm beeswax and honey from the moment you arrive. The shelves hold finished candles of every kind. The equipment is the same we use every day. It feels like exactly what it is — a working candle studio that opens its doors to share the craft.

Bring a bottle and your favourite people. As the evening settles in, Bettina guides you through the ancient art of the hand-dipped taper — some twenty slow dips into warm, golden beeswax, with good food and conversation while each layer sets.
