The Tumbler
Textured Tumbler with Candle - Hand Made by Oshala Earthforms and Hive & Harmony
These beautiful handcrafted stoneware vessels are individually built and decorated using hand-painted wild clay slips in natural, earthy tones. Each piece is one of a kind, featuring subtle variations created by different wild clays, earth pigments, minerals and natural stones sourced from multiple locations across NSW.
The exterior is left beautifully textured and unglazed, while the rim and interior is smoothly glazed with a wild clay ash glaze in a range of natural tones. Inside is a Hive & Harmony 100% pure Australian Beeswax candle. Once the candle has been enjoyed, the vessel can be used as a drinking cup or anything to contain treasures. If you would like a refill candle, return this back to Hive & Harmony and it can be refilled for $15. As each tumbler is one of a kind and varies in size, we cannot sell refills without having the tumbler returned to ensure the new candle fits perfectly and burns beautifully.
All vessels are stoneware fired, fully waterproof, and food safe. Due to their handcrafted nature, colours, patterns, and textures will vary from piece to piece. Each vessel in unique and therefore differs slightly in size but each will hold approximately 200ml.
To preserve the surface decoration, handwashing is recommended.
Size: Approx 6.5cm wide x 55.5cm high
Volume: Approx 200ml
The candle that changes
how you think about candles.
"Honestly one of the most thoughtful and beautiful gifts I’ve ever received. You can really feel the care and intention in every detail. The beeswax candles are such high quality, smell wonderfully sweet and earthy, and make the whole experience feel truly special."
"Excellent quality at a great price. I attended the candle making workshop — it was great fun, and I got to take my candles home. Excellent service."
"Very enjoyable class. Teacher was very relaxed, engaging and patient. Attended with a 10 year old who was super impressed with his efforts! Lovely candles to take home and enjoy."
Four steps.
A lifetime of reward.
Follow these steps once and your candle will burn flat, clean and even for its entire life.
Every concern a careful
buyer should ask.
The only wax that needs
nothing done to it.
Every other candle wax — soy, paraffin, coconut, rapeseed — requires chemical processing before it can become a candle. Beeswax requires none of it.
| Property | Beeswax Ours | Soy Wax | Paraffin |
|---|---|---|---|
| Processing | None. Filtered and shaped only. | Hydrogenated, bleached, deodorised | Petroleum derivative. Heavily refined. |
| Burn time | Longest of all natural waxes | Medium — longer than paraffin | Shortest. Burns hot and fast. |
| Air quality | Minimal smoke. May release negative ions. | Minimal if pure. VOCs if blended. | Can release toluene and benzene, particularly in fragranced versions. |
| Fragrance | Natural honey warmth — nothing added | Requires fragrance to mask base wax | Requires fragrance to mask petroleum |
| Value per hour | Best long-term value | Mid-range | Cheapest upfront, costliest long-term |
Make beeswax candles
yourself.
Every Hive & Harmony candle is made using the same techniques you would learn in our Saturday workshop. Come and make beeswax candles — with your own hands, with the same wax, in the same space.
"In two hours you will leave with candles you made yourself — and a completely different relationship with the one burning at home."
Many lifetimes of labour
in every flame.
A female honeybee produces approximately 0.065g of wax in her entire lifetime. The pure beeswax in each Tumbler represents the combined lifetime work of hundreds to thousands of female bees — each one freely given, in service of the hive.

"When you know what you are holding, you light it in awe & gratitude."
No. Bees produce far more wax than any hive needs. Ethical beekeepers only harvest the honeycomb caps and surplus, leaving the colony with everything it requires. Our beeswax comes from conscious apiaries in the NSW Central Tablelands where bees are treated gently.
